;DBatchmates, you might be hearing of the "plan/issue" that the free day for next term will be a monday and not a friday. In order to address the issue, we want to know your sentiment regarding it! Are you for or against the plan? and why?

i think it would be better if friday padin because it would give the organizations and professors to plan for seminars, etc. if it would be monday, it would more likely result to either makakalimutan ng students na they have seminars and stuff like that kasi shmpre last silang nasabihan ng friday or, baka mas nakakapagod pag monday kasi for example, lsal, shmpre the players would like to rest for the next day. but it would be harder to do that if mondayna ung free day. un lang.

I am 110% against this plan. The current scheme is bad enough as it is, especially for student organizations. It's pretty hard to promote active membership in organizations because Friday is filled with 1. Alternative Classes, 2. Study and Homework Time, 3.Going Home Time (for those who go home to the province).
If the no classes were on a Monday, the students would end up: 1.still being in the province 2.cramming and studying for academics 3. being too lazy to go to school.
It may have a justifiable reason but i feel that the scheme isn't well researched.

I am not against, but also not in favor of being monday as the new free day. I suggest that we move it to wednesday instead. It will give the students more time to catch up with their subjects (for homeworks, tests and quizzes, and etc.)

Friday is better for org activities. At least, we could do all our acads stuff from mondays to thursdays like the tests and the projects then Friday will be like a more relaxed day for us na. It will also be difficult to encourage students attend the seminars on a Monday because most of us are cramming to finish our assignments and projects or study for tests.

i am against thissss! at least if the free day is on a friday, students will really feel that it is indeed a "free day" considering that it is already the end of the week. free day during mondays is more burdensome. org activities is best on fridays, at least, students will not think of their studies for the mean time. NO TO FREE DAYS ON MONDAYSSS.

Honestly, one main reason why I think they (whoever they are) are pushing for the Monday free day is because most of the holidays are moved on a Monday. In this case, if we follow the Friday free day, our MW classes are affected because assuming there is a holiday that falls on a Monday, there will only be one session which is the Wed. However, if we think about it, most of the students do not go to school anymore even on a Friday. What more on a Monday? Mas nakakatamad. And come to think of it, you have a class the next day.. Of course, you would rather stay at home and do your school stuff instead of going to school. Pag Friday naman, mas okay lang kasi you still have two more days to do your work. If I have the power to change the system, I'd still go for the 1 hour classes every MWF and 1.5 hour classes for TTh and just have the Ubreak on Wednesdays! Haha. Out of topic! Just an opinion.

One of the main reason why the Administration wants to push for this is because President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo/Arroyo Administration usually declares Monday as a holiday. In effect, there are only three days left for the week.
Since we are a trimestral university, it will be harder for the students to catch up with the lessons that students are supposed to study. Also, too many make up classes are being conducted every Friday.

I do not like the proposed change. Our current system which allots Friday as a day for extracurricular activities has been doing great anyway. Students who do not actively participate in orgs look forward to Thursday because it is already the end of the week for them. Students who participate in orgs see Friday as their “org day”, which has a more relaxed feel (compared to the MTWH weekdays filled with academic stuff).
If the free day is moved to Monday, there would be a decline in extracurricular participation of the students. Even those who are active in orgs will be discouraged to participate or give their full attention or effort to their orgs. For example, there is an exam on Tuesday, then the students would just stay home and review instead of going to school.

Regarding the reason of the admin of moving it since most holidays are on a Monday, isn't Friday also a day for make up classes? So even if classes are suspended on a Monday, the class can catch up by having a Friday class. (i mean, its not like Friday make-up class has never happened before)
p.s. I agree with karen. i still prefer the MWF, Wednesday U-Breaks.

How many holidays in a year/term are going to affect Mondays? I think there are only few which is not that disruptive to studies. Make-up class on Fridays is good since it is a suitable reason to go to school and afterward be active in extra-curricular activities. On a side note: (If we are still going to follow Friday as a free day.) Organizations should allocate a certain time frame for meetings on Fridays. For example, mornings will be dedicated for all make-up classes, afternoon will be for orgs and the night for gimmicks and parties! In that case, there will be no conflicts on schedules.

We should plan beforehand for the term to allocate school days (not only Mondays but for Tuesdays to Thursdays) that will be affected by Holidays for the rest of the term and automatically reserve make-up classes on Fridays for these special cases.
In that way, DLSU will still be able to cut costs and students will not be short noticed and crammed on their studies.
