Sunday news from www.philstar.com by Nestor Etolle reports that a DLSU-M coed was abducted from the Andrew Building last Friday at around 4:30 pm. The female student told police that she was in the women's bathroom on the ground floor of Andrew Building when she felt dizzy after smelling something "weird". She woke up later inside in a parked car, in a carpark in Cubao, and escaped after seeing her abductors outside the vehicle, talking. The complete article can be found at www.philstar.com/index.php?Metro&p=49&type=2&sec=26As of today, the administration of DLSU-M is currently performing its own private investigation of the matter. What do you think should the DLSU-M administration do to prevent future lapses in security, despite the presence of the ID turnstiles and Task Force Safe School? note: Task Force Safe School is a collaboration between St. Scholastica's Manila, DLSU-CSB, DLSU-M, the PNP, and local business establishments to initiate programs to prevent crime in the surrounding neighborhood of the three schools. It was launched in 2000 through the initiative of the DLSU-M Legislative Assembly with Mayor Atienza and Pres. Arroyo in attendance.

i just don't get it. It's clearly impossible for no one to notice a girl being abducted unless a student counterpart is involved. If a girl is just acting weird and stuff, then it's possible for a student to carry her with the reason, she feels dizzy, i'll take her to the clinic.
But if a grown man/woman was to do this, it's pretty much noticeable, impossible not to notice by the guards since both ways of the andrew building are surrounded by them.

Unless some people in DLSU were in on it too. For all we know, a student (or someone who looks like a student) could have carried her outside, saying that she was going to be brought to the clinic. And 4:30 pm, Friday? I don't think a lot of people would be around to see that.

smelling something weird in the women's bathroom?
ladies please don't sniff your own sanitary napkins. that would surely make anyone dizzy... and any girl who does it probably hangs out with suspicious looking folks anyway.
only a girl who's had a pregnancy scare would be happy enough to greet her period face to face.

Kids today should stay away from drugs. Drugs make you want to approach suspicious looking people.
Or make you look like a student and give you the strength to carry real ones outside in your car during Fridays… approximately 4:30pm-ish. (Thanks for that bizarre idea iknowright)
No but seriously, just say NO!

This event, which is currently being investigated, is a very frightening experience. Grabe, kahit ba naman sa loob ng Andrew sa women's CR kaya pasukan? It's a good thing DLSU-M has CCTV cameras all over the place; I believe this resource will be closely studied to identify the abductors. Friday afternoons usually find DLSU-M deserted, so it is very suspicious how they got through.
Having a wild imagination, I've thought of a scenario of how they got past the guards. They could have used a parked car in the Andrew parking spaces and gotten past the guard who would have thought that driver lang naman un, or whatever. It's also college application season, so the people they allow to enter to get forms should also be closely monitored.
But, let's not jump to conclusions hehehe. Do drop by again over the following week to find out the developments on this bizarre case. Meanwhile, I cannot imagine how outsiders may have entered Andrew. Every DLSU student knows it's hell to get inside without an ID. Perhaps the people they allow to enter (equipment people, "guests", etc) must be screened more stringently.

It's really scary to know that such things had happened inside the premises of the school. It makes me think that the school's security is not that good anymore.

Its very sad to hear this kind of story. Yet, we need to have an appropriate solution, particularly strengthening task force safe school!

De La Salle University OFFICIAL STATEMENT RE: Philippine Star news article "DLSU coed flees from abductors" By Nestor Etolle Published August 3, 2008
In response to the Philippine Star article, "DLSU coed flees from abductors," written by Nestor Etolle and published last August 3, De La Salle University wants to clarify that the student, whose name was withheld in the story, is no longer enrolled in DLSU. Her last enrollment was for the third trimester of School Year 2007-2008, which ended in April 2008.
The University's records also show no mention of her name on the campus entry logs on August 1, 2008, the date of the alleged incident.
De La Salle University assures the public and its various stakeholders that it gives utmost importance to the safety of students under its care through stringent security measures implemented in all its campus facilities.

lol
poser student lang pala.
archer and dalasal were right... drugs make you believe you're something you aren't.. like an enrolled taft student who's had a pregnancy scare.
as rehab centers always say: the real culprit is shabu; not you.

there are 2 solutions to this kidnapping problem.
the first is to have lasallian students to wear a collar with a special microchip, so that if someone is abducted, the collar will slowly strangle the abductee so that he/she may not be tortured or held for ransom, wasting his/her family's money.
the second and more radical one is to have the guards be on high alert for any suspicious smelling students. if anyone smells weird, then he should be brought to the security office for investigation. and if the student is uncooperative (smell continues to ooze out of student) he should be kicked out.
either of these two courses of action should be taken along with having everyone in-campus become more vigilant about their surroundings and fellow students. only with the help of the students can taft win this war on terror.
